Delays are Not Denials

Two Words. Mercury Retrograde.

Mercury retrograde is the scapegoat for all communication setbacks, and I will sure be using it as mine today. Unfortunately, my original post reverted back to a previously saved version, and I lost the content for both today and tomorrow’s blog. I could take a moment to focus on the loss, and I did, but then I remembered – everything happens for a reason, and there must be a greater message God wants me to convey.

Setbacks are inevitable on life’s journey. It’s how you respond to the challenges that determines your success after failure. How are you responding to the setbacks that you’ve faced in life? Are you still blaming others, or have you accepted the fact that it’s time for you to persevere, overcome, and walk in a new direction?

If you’re still blaming past external forces for your unwillingness to change your current situation, you might be stuck in a victim mentality, and have not accepted that you are a conqueror who can do ALL things through Christ who strengthens YOU.

Let’s not forget the god-body in all of us is more than capable of elevating out of any circumstance, but the universe responds to your faith through the actions you take to overcome the obstacles.

Do not be discouraged by the setbacks along the way. The setbacks WILL come. Even though it’s hard for a Virgo like me to admit, there is no such thing as perfection. God is perfectly fine with meeting us in our mess, supplying us with the right tools, and building the right relationships so that we may overcome.

Learn the lessons from your previous mistakes, and apply those lessons diligently. Remember, when you face a challenge, rejoice! Change your mind about challenging situations with phrases like:

  • I love solving a good challenge
  • This setback is helping me chart a new path
  • My hardships are temporary
  • I am waiting in expectation and joy for everything God said he would do in my life

Let the burdens go, so the blessings will flow.

A Prayer

Father God,

Thank you for always having my back even through the midst of a storm. I may not see all the obstacles that will come my way, but I do know I have nothing to worry about with you by my side. Dear Lord, please increase my strength during this setback, and renew my distressed spirit, as I sit in delight knowing that my situation is temporary. Thank you for reminding me that I have the most to learn about my own perseverance in the midst of a challenge. Thank you for being the cornerstone to my faith, and the building block to my strength so that I may act in accordance to your purpose over my life.

Action vs. Inaction – Get Honest with Yourself

Things may feel uncertain, as you are on the precipice of a new beginning. The nervous energy is flying, and in this state, you have the ability to rush something through in the name of completion, but what if you’re the project?

Sit with that for a second.

Are you showing up for yourself fully? Are you even showing up? Lots of uncertainty before a new beginning can be compared to the man giving up on digging when diamonds lie on the other side.

YOU are the diamonds on the other side, so fight through the urge right now to hide, withdraw, or push away. Isolation causes loneliness, and your escape route is closing. Face what is bothering you without the self-numbing and avoidance.

Wake up. You’re the only one who can pull yourself from despair.

A Prayer

Father God,

I thank you, even in the midst of darkness, for being a guiding light I can find my way back to. Deliver me from any shame or guilt that has caused me to hide away from others. Thank you, God for consistently showing me that I am more than capable – that your strength is made perfect in my weakness. Remove anything from my life that steals my joy and causes separation between us. Perfect me through the renewing of my mind.
